About the role:
We are looking for a skilled and visionary individual to join our team as a Cloud Operations Lead. As the Cloud Operations Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic planning, implementation, and day-to-day operations of our university's cloud infrastructure. About you:
This position requires strong leadership, with a proven track record of leading Technical Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Provide leadership in the development and execution of the university's cloud strategy. Collaborate with IT leadership to align Cloud Operations with overall institutional goals.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the daily operations of the university's cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. Implement best practices for operational efficiency and cost optimization.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and administrators. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging professional development and growth.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with cloud service providers and other technology vendors. Stay informed about new technologies and services that could enhance the university's Cloud Operations.
- Incident Response and Resolution: Develop and implement incident response procedures for cloud services. Lead the resolution of critical incidents and ensure timely communication to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in Cloud Operations. Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency.
- Resource Planning and Budgeting: Collaborate with finance and IT leadership to plan and manage the budget for Cloud Operations. Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost-effective use of cloud services.
Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing Cloud Operations in a complex environment, preferably in higher education.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Azure.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governance principles.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and lead a high-performing team.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
