We are seeking a highly organised and professional Club Manager to oversee the daily operations of our club and to work with the Club’s Directors and the General Committee to:
· Plan, direct, and oversee all Clubhouse operations ensuring product and service standards are met
· Develop and implement procedures for maximum operating efficiency in a compliant way
· Attract and retain existing and new customers
· Develop strategies to improve and extend catering activity
· Develop an inclusive, fun, and welcoming atmosphere in the Clubhouse
Duties:
Areas of Responsibility & Key Tasks
Food & Beverage
Manage the operation of the bar during opening hours, whilst ensuring maximum functionality and attractiveness of the bar service.
Implement and maintain appropriate food & liquor stock control and stocktaking audits at regular intervals, ensuring efficiency of stock levels and rotation and maintaining effective cellar management to minimise waste and maximise return whilst maintaining quality.
Create, coordinate, and implement an operational catering structure which, when functional, will meet the needs of all customers and retains at least a 4-star hygiene rating.
Comply with all statutory and Club requirements including H&S, Food Safety, and licensing.
People & Teams
Lead, motivate, train, and manage a team of staff, setting standards, expectations and making sure we deliver an exemplary customer experience.
Prepare staff rotas in accordance with the needs of the business, maintaining a staff budget within the parameters set by the Committee.
Implement excellent work procedures and standards.
Ensure all relevant information is communicated clearly to the team.
Ensure compliance with all people related policies.
Customer Service
Always provide excellent customer service, anticipating customer needs and checking customer satisfaction regularly including responding positively to customer queries, managing complaints promptly and ensuring all feedback is dealt with in a professional and efficient manner.
Develop and maintain the image, perception, and integrity of Pentyrch RFC.
Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal and external partners.
Sales Generation
Analysing and planning sales and profitability and implementing cost control measures to maximise revenue and minimise costs.
Support and grow income from venue hire opportunities, positively promoting and executing all events, new promotions, and marketing to a high standard.
Profit & cost control
Plan, monitor and control sales targets and present performance reports regularly and/or when requested.
Positively contributing to the business performance of Pentyrch RFC by managing, controlling, and seeking ways to reduce operating costs in line with business levels and within the framework set by the Directors and the General Committee.
Preparing financial reports at the end of the shift/week, keeping records for weekly cash flow reconciliation, and complying with cash management procedures.
Communication
Develop and maintain good working relationships and open communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintaining effective marketing activities, including driving, monitoring, and responding to social media (Facebook, twitter, Instagram) to enhance the Clubs image and proactively promote the business.
Attending Executive Committee Meetings to report on Club Management activity/progress.
General
Maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in relation to Club matters.
Implementing continuous improvements for products and services.
Ensure a high level of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the bar, kitchen, and bathroom areas of the Clubhouse.
Working alongside the Committee to ensure that the Clubhouse and its facilities are in excellent condition.
Participating in the Club’s call-out rota for security alarm activations.
Any other duties and tasks reasonably required by the Directors and/or Committee.

Qualifications and/or knowledge
Essential
A track record of managing licensed bar and/or food service operations alongside excellent customer service skills, where customers have been at the heart of the business.
An understanding of Community Rugby/other Community Sports or willingness to learn
Desirable
Recognised licensed trade qualification
Level 2 food hygiene certificate or above/or willingness to complete
Management qualification (level 4 or above)/or willingness to complete
Experience
Essential
Experience of delivering results through a team in a similar managerial role.
Experience of leading and motivating a team in a customer facing role.
Experience of being well-organised to meet deadlines and working collaboratively whilst managing multiple priorities at any one time.
Experience of and ability to work in an environment which can be pressured at times.
Basic book-keeping, administration of electronic record-keeping systems and be able to liaise effectively with accountants.
Financial and numeracy skills for handling cash.
Competent IT Skills for basic website handling, social media, communications and operating and analysing the Club’s electronic till systems.
Knowledge and sound application of the laws relating to licensing and health and safety, or a willingness to learn.
Desirable
Commercial awareness in the context of business development.
A complete working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Experience of working in a good standard hospitality setting.
Aptitude and abilities
Essential
Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team, which includes paid members of staff and volunteers.
Ability to travel between suppliers for catering purposes where necessary.

Pre-employment checks
Appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a range of pre-employment checks, including DBS.
Hours, pay and benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week, working at least five days including a Saturday.
We are willing to consider alternatives to full-time working, for example, part-time, job-share whether individual applications or a joint application from those wishing to job-share. Please state in your application your prefered working requirements.
Pay: Negotiable in the region of £28,000 + annual performance related bonus.
Holiday: 28 days annual leave including Bank Holiday allowance.
