Commercial Finance Director

Hays are working exclusively in partnership with a large and highly successful manufacturing operation that boasts a multi-faceted, international presence. This business has gone from strength to strength and attributes large amounts of their success to the strong people focus and positive working culture. After a significant recent change to support their operational efficiency and growth, they are seeking an experienced and highly commercial Finance Director to lead their operations.
Your new role
This role reports to the Group FD and will be responsible for the financial output of 4 key sites. It will oversee a small team of Finance Business Partners and work in close collaboration with operational management to deliver exceptional results. You will be responsible for the long term strategic plans, including cost controls and guidance, yearly financial commitments, supply chain decision-making, capital spending and working capital control.
More specifically, you will be accountable for the following:

• Leading general management to deliver long term outcomes based on the wider strategic plan.
• Lead on decisions regarding capex and working capital optimisation
• Act as a coach and leader to support the development of the centralised finance team and establish close working relationships between those and the site-based finance team members
• Support the development of the Finance Business Partners in driving cost performance and facilitate strong working relationships with operational staff.
• Understanding the historic and current business forecasts to highlight and identify emerging opportunities, trends and potential issues
• Be an advocate for positive change and lead in the implementation of upcoming transformation projects that impact cost and cash delivery.
• Possess strong core business skills such as stakeholder engagement and communication skills to influence best practice and increased efficiency.
• Drive new business growth opportunities through a number of methods and deliver business cases for capital investments, product launches etc.

This is a full-time role ideally based on site for the majority of the working week in order to foster and cement positive working relationships with colleagues. This business does operate a hybrid working policy to allow some flexibility and working from home opportunities, but travel to the various sites would be expected.
What you\'ll need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant, ideally with 7+ years post-qualification experience. You will have a strong commercial mindset and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering efficiencies and cost savings in a complex manufacturing/FMCG environment. You will have high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to deliver results while maintaining a people-focused outlook. You will have a keen eye for detail and be able to demonstrate innovative ways to deliver results.
What you\'ll get in return
You will receive a competitive base salary of c£80-100k + £8k car allowance and the opportunity to earn a discretionary bonus based on company performance.
