JOB TITLE: Commercial Finance Manager
Salary: £78,634 - £92,510
LOCATION: Edinburgh
HOURS: Full-time
BASIS: 9-12 month Fixed Term Contract to cover family leave
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this Opportunity:
You'll be responsible for supporting the Head of Commercial Finance to manage the company’s growing range of Commercial Finance activities, including pricing analysis, investment appraisals, cost reporting and finance support for the group’s strategic projects and programmes.
The role will involve working closely with the Commercial business divisions, the Distribution, Proposition and Operations teams and Change function, through a period of considerable change. You'll engage with key colleagues across the group to understand, develop, monitor, and manage the key performance drivers, data, reports and MI underpinning business performance. This in turn will provide the information required to support key decision making on customer facing pricing and investment decisions, by enabling more robust commercial assessment of segmental performance and the impact of major transformation activities.
As the business continues to evolve, you'll be responsible for developing and improving the Groups' Commercial Finance function, drawing upon your experience and commercial awareness to develop a 'best practice' approach and bring greater clarity to the ongoing financial performance of the Group.
What you'll be doing..
- Developing accurate, insightful financial analysis of business performance through standardised modelling frameworks with data sources that you have understood, tested, and validated.
- Liaison with wider business to develop and improve the MI available to support Commercial Finance analysis and decision making.
- Support Distribution team with pricing analysis so that financial impacts are fully understood ahead of time.
- Manage and monitor Embark’s project cost reporting, bringing enhanced financial / commercial field to the process and developing it for cost to serve analysis, change activity and LBG group requirements.
- Contribute to the Group's budget/forecast process, particularly on exceptional project costs.

What you'll need:
- Experience of working in a fast paced and dynamic business experiencing considerable change
- Proactive, curious, and agile individual with a natural desire to improve and enhance
- Ability to demonstrate the tenacity to challenge our internal colleagues whilst supporting group objectives
- Sophisticated use of MS Excel and proficient in other aspects of MS Office
- Clear oral and written communication skills
- Effective self-organisation
- Positive work ethos, desire to make a difference and “get the job done”
- Ability to handle large amounts of data to deliver accurate and informative financial analysis
- A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
