Commercial Finance Manager

We are working with Manchester City Council to find a Commercial Finance Manager on a temporary basis.
Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)
Job Type: Contract, Hybrid (2-3 days in office)

We are seeking a Financial Manager to join our Commercial Governance Team. This role is pivotal in shaping the financial landscape of the companies and investments the Council owns or has a significant stake in. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial oversight and ensuring the integrity of financial procedures.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Oversee all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly budget forecasts versus actuals.
- Provide senior leadership with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide decision-making at Board meetings and Sub-Committees.
- Summarise budget trends, analyse deficiencies, and report variances to Senior Leaders.
- Support external auditors with documentation and assistance to complete annual audit activities successfully.
- Handle tax preparation duties or liaise with external tax accountants for tax preparation.
- Establish effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial procedures.
- Undertake quarterly financial compliance checks on a range of development agreements..
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be a qualified CCAB accountant.
- Experience in company finance.
- Comfortable with company accounts and being accountable to a company board.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information clearly.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain financial processes and controls.
