Job Description:
Overview: A Commercial Gas Engineer, is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of gas-based heating and plumbing systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of gas infrastructure within commercial premises.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
Install, repair, and maintain Commercial Gas appliances, boilers, heating systems, and associated equipment.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure all systems comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues, and carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
Gas Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant gas safety regulations, including Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.
Perform gas safety checks, inspections, and certification for commercial clients.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance and safety checks.
Emergency Response:
Be available for emergency call-outs to address gas-related issues promptly.
Respond to emergency situations such as gas leaks or equipment failures to minimize risks and disruptions.
Customer Service:
Interact with commercial clients in a professional and courteous manner.
Provide expert advice on gas-related matters, including energy efficiency and system upgrades.
Communicate effectively to explain repair or maintenance procedures and associated costs.
Documentation and Reporting:
Complete detailed service reports, including findings, repairs performed, and parts used.
Maintain accurate records of work hours and materials used for billing purposes.
Training and Development:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and gas-related regulations.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Gas Safe Register certification for Commercial Gas work.
- Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ) in plumbing, heating, or Gas Engineering.
- Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial Gas appliances, heating systems, and plumbing.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Valid driving license.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
