Job description

Location of Role: Maidstone

Advert Closing Date: 08/05/2024

Starting Salary: £30,870.00 (pro-rata for part-time vacancies)

Part/Full Time: Full Time

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Mon-Fri

Weekend/Evening Working: No

A new opportunity has arisen within the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner’s Commissioning Team, in the vital work of arranging services to support the PCC in delivering their statutory commissioning responsibilities.  The PCC is responsible for Commissioning and grant funding services to support victims of crime, reduce and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB). This role is key to making sure those services provide the best possible outcomes.

As Commissioning and Grants Officer, you will work to the Commissioning Manager, to deliver the PCC’s Commissioning and grant funding responsibilities. You will have a key role in ensuring services are complying with their obligations, assessing performance, risks and outcomes and identifying opportunities for development and improvement.

You will need to have a keen eye for detail, and preferably have experience within contract management, commissioning, or procurement.  High level IT skills and an analytical approach are crucial in order to evaluate and interpret data, potentially from different sources, alongside being able to identify and understand risk to effectively monitor service provision.

You must have experience of working in partnerships, with multiple stakeholders, and be able to adapt your approach to a variety of audiences and be enthusiastic and self-motivated. You must have a structured and methodical approach and be able to deal with several competing demands in a complex environment. Naturally, you will possess strong interpersonal skills and you will be confident in both writing reports and presenting to senior managers. You should also be educated to A-level or equivalent.

Experience in a policing environment, or having a project management qualification, would be beneficial.

Kent OPCC offers smarter working which designates that certain roles can have flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager.

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £36,213.00.
