Committee Officer
City Chambers
Salary: £42,717 - £50,550
Hours: 36 per week
The Council is looking to appoint a Committee Officer to work within its Committee Services section at the heart of the Council's decision making.
Committee Services provide specialist professional and administrative support for the democratic processes of the Council and its committees. The team delivers a high quality, accurate, prompt and politically neutral service with the aim of promoting efficient, visible and democratic decision making.
This will be a leadership role, where you will be expected to provide a supervisory role to assistant Committee Officers within the team.
The workload will be varied and challenging including providing procedural advice before and at meetings, agenda and minute preparation, drafting reports and briefing notes, project work and research. Committee Officers will be expected to be lead clerks at the Council's main committees. There will also be an opportunity to work across the wider Democratic, Governance and Resilience Service to widen your skills and experience in areas such as elections.
As one of Scotland’s largest local authorities, this role is a great opportunity to enhance your skills and join a well-established team committed to promoting democracy and good governance.
Post holders will be able to work a combination of both the office and at home but committee meetings are in person in the City Chambers or other locations in Edinburgh.
Postholders should be educated to degree level or equivalent, although applicants with relevant knowledge and experience may also be considered.
