Communications Officer -
Job Role:
The Communications Officer is responsible for communications and marketing to raise and sustain the profile of the Forces Employment Charity with new and current clients, employers, and partner organisations. The post holder will play a key role in the marketing team, owning the creation and day-to-day management of client case studies and being the first point of contact for the Employment Projects department which includes focus across military families, military woman, and special employment advice.
This is a full time, 35 hours per week, Hybrid role with a salary of £28,500 with regular travel to the London office. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Marketing Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the marketing team’s designated contact for the Employment Projects Department and their communications and marketing requirements.
- Create and lead the day to day management of the charities client case studies process, capturing the experiences of our clients, allowing us to demonstrate the impact of our work and strengthen the messages we share about the services we provide.
- Creation of online and offline content, including written articles and still/motion graphics.
- Scheduling of content on social media channels (currently X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram) using content management software (Loomly).
- Website page and post updates (Wordpress).
- Support the Customer Engagement team with production of email newsletters and required content.
- Virtual and in-person event support.
- Support, where required, the creation of content for our online client communities.
- Assisting the Head of Brand and Marketing by ensuring the correct use of the Forces Employment Charity’s brand guidelines both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with Communication Managers from Delivery Partners where there is a need for co-branding.
- When required, undertake other tasks in support of the Forces Employment Charity’s wider work.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Competencies:
- Experience in creating content for online and offline channels.
- Project management experience, supporting those around you, to ensure work is delivered on time and to the required standard.
- Experience of interviewing people to garner information to develop and deliver compelling personal stories.
- Excellent written English.
- Experience of managing creative agencies and freelancers.
- Experience using social media scheduling software.
- Proven ability to deliver outcomes in accordance with demanding time and quality targets and to deal with conflicting priorities calmly and appropriately.
- Excellent internal and external relationship-building skills.
- Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills.
Desirable Competences:
- Previous experience with and / or a good understanding of the Armed forces community and the challenges they can face.
- Experience using design software, e.g. Canva.
- Experience of creating paid social media campaigns.
- Experience of working within a charity.
