37 hours, Full-Time

Permanent

Stopford House. If your role is hybrid, 2-3 days in the office in line with business need

This new role will be part of Stockport’s ambitious communications team and will work closely with colleagues in our People Directorate to deliver their priorities and initiatives to residents, businesses and partners.

About You

We are now looking for a results-driven Communications Leader to join our team to lead the strategic communications for our People Directorate. This newly created role will be responsible for leading a team of communications officers and together you will shape the communications for Adult Social care, Public Health and Stockport Family services and recommend the best course of action to produce effective communications in line with our ambitions across different target audiences.

You will have a proved track record of leading, delivering and driving forward a broad range of communication and marketing campaigns in line with corporate priorities. You will be a self-starter, will hit the ground running and able to motivate a team to deliver top class communications.

There is a contractual requirement for this role to form part of the On Call Communications Rota which operates Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 8am to 8pm. A standby allowance is paid for each shift £32.81 (as at 1 April 2023). The postholder will be on the rota approx 6 weekends a year.

This post is politically restricted under the terms of the 1989 Local Government and Housing Act. This dictates that you must seek the council’s permission before taking up any additional appointments or positions.

Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence but this can only be used for certain roles and this campaign does not qualify.
