Audit and Risk Recruitment has been mandated by a growing Financial Services business, in their search for a Compliance Policy and Advisory Manager. This is an exciting time to be joining the business as they go through a period of expansion and transformation.
You will be part of a growing second line function and the position has 2 direct reports, therefore previous line management experience is essential.
As part of an FCA regulated business, you will be working closely with ever changing UK FCA guidelines so significant previous experience within an FCA regulated business is also mandatory.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide sound, accurate and commercial advice on regulatory (conduct and prudential risk) matters affecting the business, that will enable the business to operate in accordance with industry best practice as well as meeting regulatory standards.
- Provide input into the Compliance, Data Protection, & Financial Crime Risk Management Frameworks and Policies to assist the Chief Compliance Officer
- Responsible for horizon scanning to ensure all applicable regulation is identified at any early stage and its impact on the business.
- The role holder will also be responsible for ensuring that the concept of a regulatory compliance “Traceability” matrix is fully implemented as “BAU” activity by working closely with first line colleagues to help them understand fully their first line risk management/compliance responsibilities.
- Manage and lead a small team of Compliance Business Partners
- Provide advice and guidance to the business on technical regulatory issues, utilising broad financial services knowledge to contribute to policy changes to in-house regulations, analysing the impact of regulatory changes, appreciating when potential issues require escalating, and ensuring the implementation of any required changes to internal policies/procedures
- Provide subject matter expert advice on all conduct related regulatory sourcebooks (BCOBS, MCOB, ICOB, CONC, PERG, SYSC etc.) as well as providing horizon scanning overviews of relevant Prudential Compliance matters
- Meet regulatory/legislative timescales providing well-structured, well-considered summaries of proposed regulatory change to the business and collating responses to the regulator as required
- To participate in, and at times lead, projects and initiatives in support of improving the processes and products offered to customers.
- To produce MI and regulatory update reports for presentation at various levels of committees including regulatory timeline updates to the Executive and the Board
Background Requirements
- Significant UK retail banking/building society experience with a minimum 3 years exposure to Compliance/Risk activity.
- Experience of leading and managing a compliance team or individuals
- Track record of stakeholder management and delivery
