Main Objectives: Managing the electronic components in use and those under consideration for introduction in new designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Streamlining the usage of current components to minimise redundancy.
- Harmonising component part numbering systems for efficiency.
- Collaborating with Purchasing to resolve component sourcing challenges.
- Ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic components, while managing and minimising component obsolescence.
- Identifying alternative component sources and conducting testing and evaluation for new and existing designs.
- Maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for all components to facilitate procurement.
- Partnering with design teams to select cost-effective components that meet regulatory standards.
- Investigating component failures in collaboration with Quality and suppliers, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Background in electronic design with some exposure to purchasing.
- Professional or academic qualification in electronic engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in Component Engineering.
- Technical proficiency in Component Engineering principles.
- Familiarity with electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Confident, motivated, and well-organised with meticulous attention to detail.
