Location: This post can be based in either our London office in Battersea or our Leeds, head office. (BookTrust is a hybrid working organisation with two fixed office days: Tuesday and Wednesday)
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (12 months), Full Time.
Salary: £32,000-£36,000 per annum
BookTrust is the UK's largest reading charity and we reach millions of children every year with books, resources and support to get every child reading, regularly and by choice. We are national in scale and operate in every region in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. We work through every local authority, via children’s centres, schools, libraries and health professionals, to reach the families who need us most.
We are looking for a knowledgeable, outward-facing, super-organised children’s book expert and/or Early Years expert who can help Early Years practitioners, teachers and librarians find the books, inspiration and tools they need in order to develop children’s regular reading habits. The role will involve auditing and updating existing content, including the BookTrust web catalogue of book reviews, and commissioning, editing and creating new content of all types, with a specific focus on book reviews and developing connected content across different mediums such as video.
The successful candidate will be confident and enthusiastic, attending industry events such as book launches, practitioner conferences and author visits - becoming an integral part of the children’s book world. They will work closely and creatively with authors, illustrators, and stakeholders including primary school teachers, Early Years practitioners and BookTrust staff across many departments. This will help BookTrust achieve its strategic mission of bringing the benefits of reading to children in the greatest need, achieving long-lasting impact. We are looking for a flexible, collaborative team player who wants to bring energy, ideas and experience to be an integral part of BookTrust as a centre of excellence for children’s books knowledge and reading.
