The Finance service in Camden has an ambitious vision to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, value-added service with excellent financial controls. We will do this through an exciting journey of continuous improvement, change, challenge, and innovation. To be successful we’ll need to constantly adapt to meet the needs of the organisation. The first phase will realign and increase the capacity of the Finance department, so Camden will be recruiting a number of finance roles over the coming months.
The Controls Team Manager will oversee the management of controls relating to the councils bank and other key systems. Providing robust governance to ensure that regular key reconciliations are performed across the balance sheet. You’ll be required to work in collaboration with different teams to address and implement any corrective action. The role will need to drive forward continuous improvement in our processes to ensure the most effective and efficient practices are being delivered. Some of the key responsibilities will include:
- Identify key issues and minimise risks of errors and fraud
- Coordinate the production of monthly controls and assurance reporting
- Ensure sound governance of the council’s bank accounts and other key system balances by ensuring accounts are regularly reconciled and accounted for correctly
- Implement continuous improvements in controls processes, including performance reporting
- Work with service managers, IT and Finance to identify and resolve system issues and problems in data and feeder systems
- Proactively work with IT to deliver automated reconciliation processes
To be suitable for the role you need to have experience of interpreting financial information and statutory financial requirements, as well as an understanding of Financial Frameworks and controls. Previous experience of managing teams and driving through continuous improvements are also essential.
