i&e Professionals are pleased to be supporting one of our NHS Trust clients who are looking for an Interim Costing Analyst or Costing Accountant to support for 6 months. Income Accountant background is welcomed.
Responsibilities:
To develop and maintain an efficient and effective system for the collection, processing and quality assurance of data and information used in costing and profitability reporting.
Maintain the Trust’s costing model for the internal apportionment of costs and income and provide the information required to support a system of internal trading and recharging.
Review and compare the trust's Reference Costs with national averages, tariffs and other metrics and investigate and understand material variances in order to support profitability and efficiency reviews across the Trust.
Assist in the preparation and submission of the trust's Reference Costs and other benchmarking returns.
Create and maintain apportionment tables for new services / cost centres as per the costing manual and update during the year via the Service Line Reporting process.
Support the maintenance and update of the Patient Level Information Costing System (PLICS) software model.
Support the production of monthly integrated Service Line Reports and be the secondary point of contact for clinical divisions and corporate departments.
Provide budget holders with detailed supplementary analysis and information on direct and non-direct costs explaining clearly the methodology used.
Support periodic benchmarking reviews of costs and profitability with the national average and other benchmarking data.
Assist in the review and development of current costing and apportionment systems and approaches to providing information to directorates for comparing income assumptions for existing and proposed services.
Collect and validate financial data and reports required for benchmarking submissions and support efficiency reviews.
Resolve queries from Finance and Trust colleagues on costing, reference costs, patient level costing and profitability where appropriate.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of, and keep up to date with changes to NHSI approved costing guidance, reference costs and the NHS tariff regime.
Support the provision of advice, guidance and training on costing and profitability to colleagues within the Finance department and the wider Trust. In addition provide periodic updates on the impact of changes in guidance and policy.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in Costing or Income and also ideally have a good understanding of NHS finance, or similar Public Sector experience. This role is offered on a hybrid working basis for around 6 months and is able to pay £265 to £284 per day inside IR35. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build on their experience working in an NHS Trust and will provide an excellent opportunity to work closely with operational stakeholders to drive improvement.
