Are you interested in joining a team that is going to revolutionise how counter terrorism police operate in the UK?
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is establishing a brand-new Data Science Unit, based in Manchester, which will play a key role in supporting the national effort to disrupt the terrorist threat and keep people safe.
The team are recruiting for a variety of roles, including the position of Business Analyst.
This role represents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to get in on the ground floor and help shape a new department, which will deliver a range of pioneering services to the counter terrorism policing network and key partners, including:
• Delivering advanced data analytics support to operational teams, corporate leaders and partner agencies. This will regularly involve working alongside intelligence analysts and digital experts nationally.
• Working with operational partners, industry, and academia to produce dedicated products intended to address some of the most challenging problems in national security.
• Leading experimentation and prototyping for new digital and analytical tooling which will evolve CTP's national technical capabilities and core ICT.
• Leading and representing CTP in policing, national security, cross-government, industry and academic partnerships on advanced data analytic capabilities and emerging technologies.
As a Business Analyst, the successful candidate would be expected to assist development of Data Science projects, through collating user requirements, developing documentation and providing a technology conduit between the customer and CTP HQ.
This will include advising on the suitability of new and emerging data related technologies to the national CT Policing Community. You will assist in overseeing and coordinating the implementation of national technology projects and initiatives therein to provide / communicate updates on the status of requirements / business cases.
In addition to technical expertise, we are also looking for proactive team players who have a real passion for innovation and developing best practice for the public sector.

- A practical experience in producing 'as-Is' and 'to-be' process models using Business Process Model Notation (BPMN) and the ability to undertake Gap Analysis on which project requirements will be based.
- Project Management: The post holder must be skilled at managing/overseeing small to medium size projects from origin to completion.
- The post holder must have extensive skills in the use of IT, especially in the secure technology arena. The post holder must be able to assess and mitigate technological risk, recognise the implications of new technologies and understand the impact of new information systems.
- The post holder must have the ability to work independently and also as part of a team. They must exhibit the ability to work under their own autonomy and prioritise their own work load. They must exhibit the ability to work under pressure and with competing demands. They must have enthusiasm, commitment, loyalty and determination to achieve results.
