As the Data Governance Manager within IT, you will be responsible for leading the Data Governance team, and will be accountable for designing and implementing a data ownership strategy alongside identifying new controls with key stakeholders. You will review and mature our Data Governance Strategy as part of ensuring VWFS UK becomes a leading market in Data Governance aligned to our European Target Operating Model (ETOM). You will also work on integrating new controls to ensure we adhere to our enterprise Data Governance framework. By leveraging senior stakeholder engagement you will have a key role to support and deliver the enterprise level CRM2 and Asset Cloud strategy, ensuring it has the right governance oversight implemented to meet our key business outcomes.

You will have 4 key domains of responsibility; Data Domain ownership, Data Governance Strategy & Transformation, Data Standards and Data Governance tooling

This is the experience you can bring to the role:

  • You have direct experience in this role with knowledge of Data Governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • You are knowledgeable about data related government regulatory requirements, emerging trends and issues and , industry best practise
  • Experience of managing and reporting to internal and external stakeholders at senior levels
  • Good understanding of key UK and European regulatory and statutory requirements (FCA, BAFIN, GDPR / DPA, European Central Bank, European Banking Authority)
  • Experience of managing and reporting to internal and external stakeholders at senior levels
  • Demonstrable skills relating to change management concepts, including communication and performance measurement (KPIs)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to senior stakeholders across the enterprise and to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to influence decision makers
  • Desire to drive excellence and quality in all aspects of the areas of responsibility and identify and embrace leading practice
  • Good analytical and numeracy skills, and the ability to demonstrate systematic thought processes
  • Ability to break down complex issues into manageable goals
  • Results orientation, willingness to commit and drive operations to completion
  • Experience of coaching staff to ensure that they reach their potential within a positive team environment

This is what you will be responsible for:

  • Design and implement a data ownership strategy in order to ensure key data sets are robustly managed and owned with the correct senior stakeholders in the business to effectively enable VWFS UK to embed the ETOM Data Domain Model
  • Responsible for implementing a strategic data catalogue and data observability tool in order to deliver enhanced data insights and support our Digital & Direct, Dealer and Fleet channels through the use of data dictionaries and automated data quality dashboards
  • Responsible for fulfilling the Data Protection Framework, aligned to Legal, to ensure all services on-boarded complete a pre assessment Data Protection Impact Assessment as a regulatory requirement of GDPR to ensure the critical data elements are compliant and protect our business
  • Chair the Enterprise wide Data Governance Forum as the key decision making committee around strategic data decisions, to ensure the enterprise realises the Data Governance Strategy and any data risks are transparent and owned
  • Lead the Senior Engagement Team (SET) and key stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure the creation of robust and transparent controls for Data Governance aligned to the Data Governance Strategy ensuring they are created and embedded to realise our CRM2 and Asset Cloud strategic ambitions
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of data quality governance standards to ensure adoption of requirements and alignment to regulatory guidelines across the enterprise
  • Define and implement the definition of roles and responsibilities related to Data Governance and data stewardship of the enterprise’s principal information assets to enable confidence in the quality of our data
  • Lead the engagement between IT and functional business areas to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of operational prioritisation and Quarterly Planning (QP)
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics (KPI & KRI) and ensure enterprise wide compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities
  • Coach senior management across the enterprise to enable achievement of their Data Governance objectives as referenced in the Data Governance Strategy; and be the first point of contact for resolution of issues escalated from Data Governance representatives from within other business functions
  • Act as the key point of contact and liaise with external data vendors to optimise our data feeds and streamline best practice to support the enterprise goals of Digital & Direct and Dealer
  • Where controls exist but are failing, lead the work-streams with control owners to remediate and bring them back into line to operating effectively
  • Responsible for ensuring an education and awareness culture within the enterprise is cultivated to ensure that all colleagues are aware of their responsibilities and drive the right outcomes in relation to data requirements
  • Maintain the inventory of the enterprise information maps (ARIS), including systems and owners with the support of subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the right controls are in place to manage the data and process maps within the enterprise
