About the role
Here at DS Smith, we are looking for an experienced Data Governance Manager who will be part of our global I&T strategy, and who will help us to accelerate the use of Digital, and Data technologies and processes to create value and enable organic growth.
As the Data Governance Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust Data Governance framework and strategy to optimize the use and management of data throughout DS Smith. You will create and set up a Data Governance capability in DS Smith collaborating closely with cross-functional Data Governance people across the organization to establish Data Governance policies, procedures, and standards. You will also champion Data Governance initiatives, promote data literacy, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
You will be accountable for driving the definition, continuous improvement and rollout of the Data Governance across the DS Smith, taking a digital-first approach, enabling data of known quality to be understood and correctly used by the business to protect members and to generate insight; to develop and champion a healthy data culture supporting data curiosity and safeguarding and compliance; and to act supporting the Head of Data Platform with internal and external stakeholders.
About you:
- Experience of using and applying data management best practices including use of maturity models such as DCAM.
- Experience in the delivery of data management/Data Governance capabilities, such as metadata management, data quality management, data ownership.
- Proven experience in a significant role focused on Data Governance, data management, or data compliance.
- Strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, metadata management, and data lifecycle.
- Experience in leading and managing Data Governance initiatives, including developing strategies, policies, and processes.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across the organisation.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
