About the Role

Our Data and Analytics Team have the opportunity for a forward thinking, driven Data Scientist to step into their newest role within a leading name in holiday industry.
Establishing ourselves as a data rich, data hungry business, our D&A team has an opportunity to capitalise on the strong foundations it has built, and unlock data as a super power so that our teams can build competitive edge and make informed decisions. This position therefore will sit at the forefront of our development as a crucial member of the team.

Paying a salary between £30,000 and £40,000 per annum / 37.5 hours / Monday-Friday
Plus access to our annual STIP (annual company-wide bonus) scheme with an additional 10% of your salary

As our newest Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and value creation through advanced data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques.
Working within our dynamic data science team, you will lead efforts to deliver impactful innovative initiates that drive strategic decision-making and business growth. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and analysts, you will be at the forefront of translating complex data into actionable insights.
This role is tailor-made for an enthusiastic individual seeking to apply their expertise in data science to solve real-world business challenges and contribute to the continuous advancement of our organisation's data-driven capabilities.

Your Responsibilities

Actively contributing the design and implementation of innovative data science solutions that leverage advanced algorithms and techniques to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.

Develop production quality code and carry out deployments.

Ability to work on multiple data science projects and manage deliverables.

Develop high-quality machine learning models to solve business challenges.

Write comprehensive, well written documentation that meets our needs.

Engaging collaboratively with stakeholders across various departments to understand business challenges and opportunities, and delivering tailored data-driven solutions that address specific needs and objectives.

Implementing robust quality assurance measures to maintain the accuracy, and reliability of data used for modelling, ensuring they serve as a trusted foundation for decision-making.

Championing the adoption of data-driven decision-making practices across the organisation, and fostering a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and learning that empowers individuals to harness data as a strategic asset.

Communicating Insights Effectively: Distilling complex data findings into clear, concise, and compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, facilitating understanding and buy-in at all levels of the organisation.

Staying Ahead of the Curve: Remaining abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and analytics, and translating insights into actionable recommendations that position the organization for long-term success.

First and foremost we are interested in those who have the potential to hold these values, as for this position, we ask you to have the following key skills:

  • A deep understanding of statistical and predictive modelling concepts.
  • Data presentation and visualisation for commercial audience.
  • Solid understanding of classical Machine Learning algorithms (e.g. Logistic Regression, Random Forest, XGBoost, etc), state-of-the-art research area (e.g. NLP, Transfer Learning etc) and modern Deep Learning algorithms (e.g. BERT, LSTM, etc)
  • Understanding of model evaluation, data pre-processing techniques, such as standardisation, normalisation, and handling missing data.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and Python's ecosystem for data analysis (Jupyter, Pandas, Scikit Learn, Matplotlib, etc)
  • Proven experience in deploying ML/AI services using Amazon SageMaker.
Although standouts will also have:
  • Graduate (ideally MSc or PhD) in a Quantitative degree (e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research etc)
  • Commercial experience in developing and deploying data science models.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude.
