Our Purpose
Data and Insights is a growing team and we are excited about bringing together colleagues with an analytical function to make the most of our data, and to enhance opportunities for support and collaboration.
The Data and Insights Hub is the go-to place for information across the organisation. We see a lot of information travelling through our area and it’s our job to make the most of it. We make it useable, understand it, interpret it and feed it back to decision makers. Enabling evidence-based decision making is our aim. We’re currently developing our team to make the most of modern technology and automation. The information world is developing quickly and we now have computers and tools powerful enough to crunch large volumes of information daily. Gone are the days where we need to produce quarterly reports from scratch.
Your Role
As a Data Support Officer, you’ll play a key part in the team, supporting colleagues across the Insights Team and lending a hand when extra help is needed. As part of your day, you can expect to be:
- Checking records across the different systems we use to make sure they’re accurate and consistent.
- Conducting basic desk-based research and analysis on some of the information we hold to help services understand emerging problems.
- Communicating with other teams and maintaining relationships with key people, as well as will helping the team run smoothly by booking in meetings, writing up team notes, maintaining information and distribution lists and submitting jobs to other departments like ICT.
You’ll also work with and support our experienced Data Engineers to submit information to Central Government departments and other bodies, and they’ll direct, guide and develop you along the way.
Once you’re confident in your role, you’ll also be able to have responsibility for organising your own workload and your own information submissions too. You’ll get to learn how to use powerful data visualisation tools like Power BI and start developing and maintaining your own dashboards and automations.
About You
Qualities and values that are important to our team, but that you will also share and champion, will include;
- You prioritise doing a job properly rather than quickly.
- You like a challenge and solving problems, and you’ll also be a hard worker, happy to lend a hand where you can to help the team.
- You’re interested in your personal development and will put in the work to build your knowledge and skills.
- You take opportunities to have new experiences. You value a team and connection with others and want to work in a place you belong.
If this sounds like you, and you’re open minded, inquisitive, and a quick learner, it’s time to get applying!
We can offer support and development. We will help you reach new heights in your career aspirations, so you can grow with us.

All applicants are advised to carefully read the information provided in the Role Profile and Person Specification.
