Why this job matters
We are looking for a Decarbonisation Compliance Specialist to join our National Power & Environmental Compliance management team.
This job enables BT to deliver on its purpose. The team manage environmental risk for BT globally and provides the central coordination and management to the operational areas managing risk whether through a formally Certified Environmental Management Systems (EMS) (ISO14001) or not. This role is key to complying with our Decarbonisation Compliance obligations, delivering a key area of the BT wide EMS, maintain an ISO50001 aligned Energy Management Systems (EnMS) and support wider energy and environmental operations.
What you’ll be doing
- The accountabilities of this job are:
- Manage the UK Decarbonisation Aspect in line with ISO14001 certified EMS as defined in RAL/ENV/A001 (covers Energy, Fuel, Emissions to Air and transport), including
- 1st line assurance across operational delivery and processes
- Coordination of field waste management within operational sites within Networks for M&E
- In addition to the above, maintain and develop the EnMS to the ISO50001 standard, including
- An effective training programme
- Own a BT wide energy engagement programme Manage and coordinate an internal and external audit programme
- Ensure BT is compliant with all UK Energy, Carbon, Fuel, Air con and Transport related legislation. Operational accountability rests with the operational teams
- Deliver all energy related reporting, including:
- Project Manager energy reporting in support of DIS reporting commitments (annual reporting, CDP etc)
- Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)
- Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)
- Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)
- Support the wider EMS and Energy and M&E Teams
- Own and chair the Fuel Policy Compliance Board (PCB) including fuel aspect ownership within M&E
- Become responsible for Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) duties for BT
- Lead on Carriage of Dangerous Goods compliance for Networks with regular audits and reporting
What you'll bring
- An industry-recognised subject matter expert, typically at post-graduate level of formal education and professionally certified, e.g. Member of the Energy Institute(IE)/Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or Chartered Energy Manager/Chartered Environmentalist.
- Typically with 5-10 years of relevant experience in the field, e.g. in terms of energy management and control – inc. delivering legal and regulatory aspects and reporting
- On-site work required, so awareness of working environments and safe practices etc.
- Absolute focus on protecting BT, its people, our customers and the communities and environments in which we work and operate.
