We’re Scouts and everyone’s welcome here - all genders, races and backgrounds. Right across the UK, we help over 400,000 young people aged 4-25 gain skills for life and find their place in the world.

The Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer Role:

  • Playing a leading role in the Scouts’ approach to volunteer recruitment and inclusive membership growth across the UK and in our overseas locations.
  • Working with the Chief Commissioner of England and Regional Commissioners (our lead volunteers) to ensure a partnership approach between staff and volunteers in England responsible for driving and achieving inclusive growth.

What we are looking for in our Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer:

  • Demonstrable record of achievement in a leadership role at senior management level within an organisation of comparable size, scope and complexity
  • Knowledge and understanding of methods to increase engagement and meet agreed outcomes across a range of internal and external channels (e.g. telephone, email, web support, live events).
  • Experience of effectively developing high performing teams whilst instilling a strong sense of accountability and empowerment in a values based culture
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Able and willing to work frequent evenings and weekends

What we can offer you as our Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer:

  • Work in a way that suits you, your role and your department
  • Be proud to say you’re part of a team with Investors in People (Gold)
  • Plenty of opportunity for learning and development
  • 28 days holiday a year, plus bank holidays rising to 32 days after two years
  • Four extra days to look after your family when they need you
  • Three extra days over Christmas

We are proud to be a family-friendly employer and offer…

  • Maternity/Paternity Leave
  • Flexible working hours
  • Store Discount at our Scout Store + other online benefits
