We employ over 480 people in offices in West London, Croydon, Fleet street, Devon and DublinOverall Purpose of the Role:Property Week is the leading provider of news, insight and events for the UK commercial and residential property industry. The Deputy Editor plays a vital role in meeting this brief, supporting the Editor across a wide range of editorial tasks.You will be a self-motivated individual, capable of working on your own initiative to help drive and sustain high quality content across all of the brand’s output, and able to deliver significant projects without close supervision. But it is equally vital to be a team player, able to help co-ordinate the work of others, provide guidance and feedback, and act as a mentor to less experienced journalists.As a senior member of the team, you will help PW’s Editor to lead by example. You will be a hands-on journalist producing stories across news, features and interviews, within reasonable limits given the time constraints imposed by other duties.The role also includes key managerial aspects, with direct line management responsibility for several journalists at section-editor level, some of whom may in turn manage others. The division of line management responsibilities between Editor and Deputy Editor may vary according to the needs of particular individuals, but this is a senior role and you can expect around half of PW’s editorial team to report through you.Live and virtual events are a key part of PW’s editorial proposition, so the Deputy Editor must be a confident public speaker, able to represent the brand externally, chair panel debates and conference sessions, and guide roundtables. Event organisation skills are not required, but you may need to work with the PW events team to assist in setting up face-to-face events by, for example, suggesting suitable participants and briefing panellists.The Deputy Editor may also be asked to take charge of commercial content projects from time to time. Examples include the production of whitepapers, reader research programmes, or chairing bespoke events on behalf of clients.
