Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they're likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:
- Growing and transforming our direct care and support
- Delivering more practical information and support
- Leading in shaping the end-of-life experience
Your role in our mission…
As our Deputy Head of Nursing & Care delivery, you will oversee the delivery and continual improvement of clinical services across the place based area. Working as a transformational leader, you will support the growth of existing services and be accountable for the redesign and implementation of new services.
You'll be responsible for:
- Innovating new services based on need and feedback and to support staff to create a culture of continual learning and improvement.
- Being the clinical lead for defined services, ensuring effective use of resources including people, medicines, clinical resources and other assets belonging to Marie Curie.
- Actively collaborating across the place based area to ensure developments are in line with partner organisations and where appropriate to create clinical partnerships and pathways.
In addition to these core responsibilities, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership team to consider opportunities to identify, support and secure sources of funding, within agreed targets, and lead on the provision of a transformational approach to operational Care Delivery. A key part of your role will be to support staff development and wellbeing, through coaching, role modelling and supervision of practice.
This is an ideal career opportunity for someone with previous experience in Care Delivery with both knowledge and execution of quality and operational improvement methodologies in a clinical setting. You will have proven leadership experience, managing senior staff who themselves lead all clinical services.
