Design & Development Engineer
Location: Whitley
Rate: £23.65 per hour umbrella

The Electronic Drive Unit (EDU) factory is the mechanism by which we can supply prototype units to a business for testing which will lead to the development of more advanced technology. In this role you will be supporting the manufacturing / engineering team in the development of solutions to improve the capacity and quality of the production line.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Process optimization: Comprehensive understanding of the existing systems in place to identify bottlenecks, analyse and implement solutions to streamline the system.
- Quality control: Identify and understand flaws and implement corrective actions.
- New Technology Integration: Keep an awareness of new and developing technologies relevant to the sector
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Understand a variety of perspectives and ideas from different teams and unify the most optimum inputs.
- Vendor Collaboration: Work with supplier and vendors to source high quality materials and components.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Required:
- A manufacturing & Engineering skillset in relation to design and deployment of tooling/fixtures
- Problem solving skills:
- Implementation of solutions for a variety of workstreams.
- Maximise efficiency.
- Self-driven, motivated and proactive. This role will be best suited to someone with strong organisational skills, who seeks out new opportunities to boost efficiency.
- Experience in tool design and implementation
- English speaking
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a product-based role (build, test or asset management) or other experience to evidence that you’re used to being involved in this style of workstream.
- Stakeholder management experience – Ability to keep people aware of progress.
