POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a Despatch/Warehouse Operative to come and join our team at SGK.
The Operator will be based at our Manchester Site and must be available to work morning (6:30am to 2:30pm) and late (1pm to 9pm) shifts. Shifts may change to align with the needs of the business.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pack all final delivery goods with firm materials and place on the correct label with address and receiver.
- Work using both SGK’s own system as well as various shipping company systems.
- Make decisions to despatch jobs using the most cost effective, reliable & efficient methods.
- To demonstrate good communication skills, commitment, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
- To work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Control both cardboard & wood recycling in the yard.
- Keep a clean & tidy working environment.
- Take in deliveries
- Take delivery of various stock and put away in the correct places.
- Using company vehicles to deliver or collect from local company’s (Dependant on a full UK driving licence).
- The role does include heavy lifting and a lot of manual handling.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a small team while also being self motivated to work alone.
- Good computer skills required.
- FLT license advantageous but not essential (training will be given)
- During the initial training period the hours will be 10am – 6pm.
- After the initial training the successful applicant will be expected to work alternating shifts patterns.
- Previous shipping/receiving experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Basic verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and management
