Development Manager

Salary £55,058-£58,958 per annum .This includes a 9% market supplement reviewed every 3 years.

The appointment is subject to a £2,000 Welcome Payment.

The payment will be made in two instalments (50% upon commencement in post and 50% after the completion of a successful 6 month probation period). A two year retention clause is applicable to the payment. The payment is not available to employees who already work for the Council. 

A grant of up to £6,000 may be available via our Relocation Assistance Scheme.

We handle in excess of 1,500 planning applications each year, from complex developments of several hundred houses to determining householder applications. Whilst protecting the character of the area, planning decisions also create healthy and sustainable communities and strengthen the economy. As Development Manager you will lead our approach to strategic planning and design in a collaborative way across the Council. You will work in partnership with neighbouring authorities and also negotiate with developers. You will be responsible for shaping and leading our team of planning officers in delivering our Corporate and Local Plan objectives.

 This is a high profile and challenging ‘place shaping’ role at Derbyshire Dales and there are plenty of opportunities to shape your legacy here. A credible, qualified planner, your will bring a strong ‘customer first’ perspective and the vision needed to see opportunities and drive change, ensuring our Development Management Service is agile and flexible to meet residents’ needs. You will have exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the drive, expertise and determination to ensure we achieve our ambition to make the Derbyshire Dales a place where all can thrive.
