As a Barclays Digital Lead Engineer, you will lead great engineering across our new platform services and products. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technologist to drive the delivery of our core cloud-based platform which is used by multiple client facing applications. You will also need in-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of: host-based cloud computing (AWS/OpenShift etc), enterprise application programming, distributed systems, databases, and Kubernetes.

What will you be doing?
- Delivering world class applications to provide an enhanced customer experience across our Digital Corporate Bank estate
- Leading the engineering team as we build real-time streaming applications and APIs as part of our digital transformation
- Using your expertise for in build cloud hosted microservices using Java, Kafka and Spring
- Leading by example, by promoting trust and respect in all relationships
- Managing partnership with line of business and technology stakeholders to successfully deliver business outcomes
- Creating opportunities and experiences through which team members can improve their skills and capabilities
- Coaching and supporting team members to develop and improve their performance
- Retaining key talent in their teams by providing stretching and rewarding development opportunities
What we’re looking for:
- Deep understanding of software engineering using JVM based languages and frameworks
- Basic understanding of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery concepts (CI / CD) and also should be aware of CI tools like Jenkins/Bamboo, etc
- Experience of managing engineering teams
- Building high-performing, mission critical applications using an Agile approach
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Exposure to Confluent Schema Registry
- Exposure to DDD and frameworks used to deliver applications using this approach
- Ability to mentor and coach colleagues in the creation of streaming applications
- Ability to design and build Kafka Streams applications using the Streams API by means of the DSL API and Processor API
Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
