The Associate Development Programme (ADP) Director will operate at both a strategic and operational level – developing and enhancing the program whilst planning for the onboarding of up to two ADP cohorts per year. The role will involve arranging and facilitating training as well as overseeing the operational support provided to partner teams. The individual will be responsible for hiring, managing, training and motivating a team of Associates (c. 15 FTEs), including assisting with work allocation, conducting assessments, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback; establishing and maintaining ongoing dialogue with the relevant management to accurately identify needs and provide required support. The ADP Director will achieve this in collaboration with the ADP VP manager, who they will be responsible for managing and will be a partner in executing ADP priorities.
The individual will also contribute to relevant strategic initiatives and projects particularly with respect to the broader training agenda across Relationship Banking, working closely with the Chief of Staff and deputising from time to time.
The role requires a strong understanding of HSBC Innovation Banking lending practices and needs in order to appropriately hire, train and manage entry level lending staff. Strong communication skills will be needed to communicate with other ADP Managers, lenders, internal and external partners and team.
Essential Functions
- Development of ADP including enhancing the training agenda and delivery, exploring the expansion of the program to new business lines and optimising the existing rotation schedule.
- Managing the recruitment process for subsequent cohort intakes, partnering closely with the business to identify future FTE needs and working with Staffing to source and secure diverse top talent for the Program and planning for a successful onboarding experience.
- Build the ADP talent pipeline utilising internships where appropriate.
- Partner with the ADP VP to oversee the team of ADP Associates, providing oversight and guidance, managing workload where required, driving skills and career development, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
- ADP Director & ADP VP will both directly manage Associates, with the ADP Director also supporting the VP’s individual development and providing support and guidance to further their career goals.
- Work closely with team heads across the business to ensure the delivery of a consistent ADP experience and that ADPer learning objectives are met whilst on rotation.
- Ensure regular feedback is received from rotation teams regarding ADPers.
- Participate in and where required lead on key relevant initiatives and projects regarding training and talent management and relevant operational changes across Relationship Banking.
