Living and Working in Lagos

Your base of operations will be on the safer and more affluent Lekki island, which is located south of Lagos and is connected by a bridge. Lagos is now far safer than its reputation suggests, but living sensibly is still advised. In addition to having drivers take you around the city at your request, you will live on a secure campus.
The largest city in all of Africa is Lagos! Not only is it the epicenter of Nigerian show business, but it is also well-known for its music culture. A tropical environment is in store, and the coast and beaches are wonderful places to get away from the bustle of the city. Teachanywhere can give you a lot of information about how life will be if you secure a position with this great school.

Role

You will be responsible for building and developing an ambitious music and performing arts programme. The school will offer "Music for all" through the curriculum and music clubs and activities programmes. The curriculum will focus on singing to begin with, along with recorders and/or ukuleles. To make an impact, we are looking at the long-term development of the instrumental programme along with a shorter-term drumming programme. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to define the wider music curriculum within these broad guidelines that will take advantage of the world-class music and performance facilities that are being developed.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary from $4000 - $6000 USD per month (Tax free) depending upon experience and role secured
  • Annual flight allowance (which should allow two return flights per year)
  • Accommodation provided in 2 bed onsite apartment with utilities and internet provided along with cleaning and laundry service
  • All meals provided in onsite 24-hour restaurant if required
  • Start and end of contract baggage allowance
  • Health insurance
  • Tuition offered - 1 child per teacher

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Music, music education or a related field
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent certification in music education
  • Masters degree preferred though not essential
  • Extensive experience as a musician, performer, and/or music educator
  • proven experience in teaching a variety of Musical instruments and styles, vocal instruction, music theory and music history
  • Proficiency in using music technology and software
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Independent, adaptable and flexible with a growth mindset
