The culture at City is built on our shared core values, which means that all employees are expected to behave according to our values: “We care, We learn, We act.” Background This is an exciting opportunity to join the City Doctoral College (CDC) team at City, University of London, and to lead on the delivery our Doctoral Researcher Development Programme of high-quality professional development activities, communications, and community events for our Doctoral Researchers. City Doctoral College works to enhance and build on the support for our Doctoral Candidates provided by our academic Schools and Departments. This involves supporting and developing the research community, providing enhanced opportunities for personal and professional development, promoting access and support for Doctoral Researchers from a range of backgrounds, and strengthening the quality of our doctoral programmes. Responsibilities Working with the Assistant Vice-President (City Doctoral College) and the Head of Doctoral College Operations, you will be responsible for organisation, management and delivery of the Doctoral Researcher Development Programme and will lead the communications strategy and events portfolio for the Doctoral College. This includes induction and cohort building events for Doctoral Candidates across six academic Schools. Person Specification You will have considerable organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to evidence familiarity and knowledge of higher education structures/systems relating to doctoral research. You will be passionate about the support and Development of our Doctoral Researchers, and comfortable working across disciplinary/departmental boundaries to maintain and build relationships and to foster collaborative approaches. You will be a motivated self-starter, with strong IT skills, who is also capable of working effectively as part of a small team.
