SalaryWe are creating these specialist roles in clothing, vinyl and jewellery to ensure we recognise and realise the worth of our high value donations and are looking for volunteers who have the expertise in one or more of these areas. It’s a busy department as our stock is constantly changing and we need volunteers to support the operation of two e-commerce platforms to help raise vital funds to support the work of the Hospice.
Where: Sussex House Business Park, 270-274 Old Shoreham Road, Hove
When: Monday – Friday 9 – 13.00 or 12 – 16.00
Usual minimum commitment: 4 hours a week
What you’ll be doing: Working as part of a small and friendly team, tasks will include:
- Using your specialist knowledge to assess and value speciality items, and communicate with knowledgeable buyers worldwide during the sale process
- Taking high quality photographs of saleable items
- Researching items to maximise sale potential, including contacting dealers and experts
- Writing engaging product descriptions and listing items for sale
- Utilizing your computer skills to navigate online platforms, manage listings, and efficiently contribute to our online retail efforts
- Be comfortable with moderate manual handling activities as part of the listing process

Your skills and abilities
- Expertise in valuation of clothing, vinyl or jewellery in on-line sales forums
- Confident using the internet and its search facilities
- Familiar or keen to learn e-commerce platforms, including eBay
- Confident using cameras and uploading photos onto PCs
- Ability to work as directed and to feedback information to ensure items are sold on appropriate markets.
- Happy to work alone or as part of a team
