What you’ll be doing

As a member of Technical and Service Design, you are responsible for designing an innovative IT infrastructure for our customers. This involves working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to define a scope of work, create a solution to transform the network, and support delivery into the live environment.

As an Early Careers Technical Designer, you will:

  • Develop technical capability: Understand the main principles of networking, contact centre, cloud architecture and digital workplace solutions.
  • Focus on getting the basics right: Ensure the network architecture and configuration we produce can be deployed seamlessly and adheres to our code of standards.
  • Follow design best practice: Drive efficiency and scalability through reusable designs and remain accountable for the solution throughout the project life cycle.
  • Put our customer first: Work proactively to ensure that you are the customer’s trusted advisor, who is visible and accessible when the customer needs you.
  • Be commercially aware: Understand the customer’s market landscape and provide insight and expertise to align with their priorities.
  • Be a proficient problem solver: Identify the best approach to resolving customer affected issues, all whilst managing impact and risk.
  • Continuously improve: Constantly seek opportunities to develop our ways of working to increase quality whilst reducing time and cost.
  • Maintain aninquisitive mindset: Keep up to date with industry specific technologies such as contact centre services, voice, digital workplace and more.
The skills & experience you’ll need

The role is also subject to you gaining a level of security clearance.

  • A 2.2 degree or higher in a relevant STEM subject.
  • Knowledge of network technologies and practices such as: WAN, LAN, SDWAN, Wi-Fi, cloud computing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • The ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Desired but not essential:

  • Knowledge or experience of contact centre, video, collaboration, or voice technologies.
Due to the sensitive nature of this role you will be required to have DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels ). An allowance of £5k per annum will be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.
