Harrow’s Early Support provides for pre-natal – 19/25 years team to ensure high-quality direct work takes place with babies, very young children, children, young people and their families to improve their outcomes through the provision of support and early intervention services. The post holder will report to the Early Support & Youth Justice Service Manager and join the Early Support Team (Youth Offer ages 9-19/25), which forms part of an integrated service of Early Support and Youth Justice Service. Furthermore, you will work directly with our client group, and undertake universal plus key worker functions when necessary.
We are looking for someone who can work with other staff at the hub in the provision of Early Support Needs Analysis and deliver one-to-one work, multi-agency working, health and education activities, parenting programmes, group work in a range of targeted universal and universal plus interventions planned to ensure good outcomes for children, young people and their families.
To be successful in this role, you need to have the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of delivering and leading the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and key stage curricula.
- Substantial experience of working directly with children, young people and families to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes.
- Knowledge of participating in the changing environment of Children’s Services, Children’s Centres, Youth Service and associated Government initiatives.
- Working with children, young people and families with diverse needs, including well-being, social and health needs and leading the planning and delivery of a range of activities to meet these needs.
- Working with young people who may have difficulties, including serious youth violence, crime, CSE, and neglect.
- Analysing, as required, the needs of young people, vulnerable adults or ‘at risk’ client groups.
- Applying solution-focused and problem-solving skills with children, young people and families.
- Ability to hold multi-agency discussions with a variety of statutory agencies, with a focus on developing a support package that can empower families to reduce statutory service involvement where appropriate.
- Have a Level 2/3 certificate in Youth Work and/or Early Years care and education vocational qualification level 3 or above and/or have a professional qualification in social work, psychology, criminology or similar professional qualifications.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Tools, including Outlook, Word and Excel, with a willingness and aptitude to learn other IT systems and databases to a proficient user level.
- Ability to travel between sites to plan and provide services, including travel widely and frequently across the borough.
