ROLE DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Economic Development Officer, you will:
  • Provide support to the Head of Service and the Economic Development Team in developing and delivering innovative approaches to business engagement and enterprise programmes.
  • Lead the support and delivery of high street projects in South Fulham to enhance footfall and trade.
  • Act as a bridge between key business organizations in South Fulham, fostering collaboration across different council service areas.
  • Build strong relationships with existing and new businesses to support a resilient, vibrant, and inclusive local economy.
  • Coordinate and deliver business support programmes, including signposting and referrals.
  • Maintain an active CRM/database of high street businesses to track outcomes and ensure effective communication.

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
  • Essential: Relevant degree or professional qualification, membership of a relevant professional organization, or relevant experience.
  • Desirable: Relevant qualification in project management.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Record of achievement in a similar role, operating in a complex environment, with experience in local and/or central government, commercial sector, or relevant policy body/agency.
  • Detailed understanding of high street issues within a local authority setting.
  • Experience in negotiating positive outcomes for local businesses and people.
  • Proficient in standard office packages for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Other Team Duties:
  • Support delivery of seasonal events and relevant research projects.
  • Stay updated on High Street support programmes and engage with other boroughs and the High Streets Task Force.
  • Flexibility to attend meetings and events during evenings and weekends as necessary.
