Senior electrical engineering role responsible for supporting the electrical/electronic design and testing of new X-Ray and Bond Test products as well as the maintenance of existing products.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the design and layout of electrical systems for the control of Industrial X-Ray Inspection and Bond Test machinery.
- Design and documentation of electrical panels, PCBs and general machine wiring.
- Liaison with Mechanical and Software design teams to ensure effective integration of electrical systems with mechanical and software components.
- Practical electrical and electronic prototyping.
- Specification, documentation and management of electrical bills of materials.
- Support and improve Electrical Design of existing product range.
- Any other reasonable duties.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
- Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Substantial experience (5+ year) of designing Electrical/Electronic Systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience of designing electomechanical systems (eg. Robotics, production automation etc.).
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining well-structured and documented code.
- Solid experience of working as part of a team on medium to large engineering projects.
PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Essential:
- Extensive experience of designing electrical panels for industrial systems (Circuit breaker contactors)
- Experience of specifying designing wiring looms for electrical machinery
- CAD experience (preferably AutoCAD, Inventor, Cadstar)
- Good practical electrical/electronic skills for prototyping testing.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards (IEC61010, NPA79 etc.)
- Team player with a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
- A high degree of flexibility in a continuously changing environment.
Desirable:
- Experience of electronic circuit design (analogue/digital).
- Experience working with embedded microcontroller systems and associated buses (e.g. SPI, I2C).
- Experience working with PLCs
- Experience of working with safety critical interlocked systems
- Good electromechanical knowledge (Motors, actuators, sensors and/or pneumatic components)
- Basic understanding of software/firmware design concepts
- Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
Regular travel between Aylesbury & Colchester dependent upon business needs. Occasional international travel.
