Job description

Ey up! Are you looking for an Electrical Tech Coach role, working for an organisation that makes a real difference in people's lives? Well, you’re in the right place.

We’re on the lookout for 2 Electrical Tech Coach’s to join the Electrical team here at Yorkshire Housing. Here’s what you need to know:

First things first, how much?

We pay £38,363.92 for a 37.5-hour week. There's also opportunity to work overtime when required.

You’ll get 25 days of paid annual leave (rising annually to 30) plus Bank Holidays. We offer a fantastic pension scheme and will match your contribution up to 9%.

You can also claim back for medical appointments, prescriptions and more through our colleague cash plan, and access thousands of retail discounts with Perkbox.

Where?

You’ll do a lot of your work from home but will need to travel across the whole of Yorkshire as required.

With whom?

You’ll work with a highly skilled, experienced, and friendly teams across the region, and receive training from our experts to ensure you meet our quality guidelines.

And what about us?

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. Yep, we own and manage over 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for our brilliant customers to have a place they’re proud to call home, but our first-class service doesn’t stop once the keys are in the door.

As an Electrical Tech Coach, you’ll play a key role in making sure our tenants feel safe, secure and proud to live in a YH home from day one. Are you interested yet?

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for the effective day-to-day quality and compliance performance of Electrical Team operatives. You will provide technical advice, support and guidance on all aspects of service activities, legislation and safety, IT device and electrical software.

You’ll also be undertaking Quality Control audits of operatives, scoring fairly against criteria and providing a consistent evaluation.

You’ll coach the operatives within the Electrical Team towards success, by providing effective feedback and encouragement to keep learning and improving their performance.

Aside from the technical stuff, a key part of your role will be role-modelling the Yorkshire Housing values and behaviours. We really care about creating trust and achieving impact with our customers. You’ll ensure that Electrical operatives replicate this level of service and bring our values to life through their daily tasks and attitude.

You’ll work closely with Electrical team leaders to co-lead high-performing teams and achieve operational excellence and department objectives. But you’ll also work well independently, taking your own initiative to support operatives to problem solve and develop their personal and professional skill sets.

You’ll be a trusted source of advice and key contact to operatives. This means you need to be approachable, supportive and a great relationship-builder.

There’s much more to this role, which you can read about in the attached role profile.

The stuff that sets you apart

This role would suit someone with experience in repairs and delivering domestic and commercial electrical services, installation, inspection and testing, and fault finding. You’ll also have a thorough knowledge of current Health and Safety best practices.

You’ll have a City & Guilds in a related electrical field to NVQ Level 3/AM2/City & Guilds 18th edition (up to most recent amendment)/City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent (Inspection, testing and reporting).

You’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for coaching and developing others. You’ll be a great role model, and not afraid to constructively challenge others to get the best out of them.
