Job Title: Electrification Technical Compliance Project Lead

Salary: £59,000 - £75,000 (depending on experience)

Location : Peterborough (3 days a week in office)

Benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave

Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

The opportunity:

As the Compliance Project Lead, you will be integral to Caterpillar’s New Product and New Technology programs, developing Battery and Fuel Cell power sources, ensuring compliance with product regulations, and delivering certifications.

The role involves leading the identification of product regulatory requirements, compiling compliance evidence, and implementing governing processes to ensure compliance. This will include communication of requirements to engineers and program managers, leading delivery of projects to timelines, and reviewing design solutions against industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for Safety, an attention to detail, and experience in product development or compliance.

What you will do:

  • Work with our teams to identify the product regulatory requirements relating to batteries, fuel cells, and electrified powertrains across global markets.

  • Communicate requirements to product and engineering leaders, ensuring that actions are clearly agreed, and delivered to timelines.

  • Provide leadership and governance in the resolution of issues and development of processes.

  • Support the technical assessment of products and designs to ensure that they meet industry standards.

  • Produce compliance documentation and work with certification bodies.

  • Provide coaching and leadership to other team members.

  • Develop and implement Lean processes for the delivery of compliant products and management of risk.

What you have:

Engineering experience:

  • Experience in managing product development, and the design of Electrified Power Solutions

  • An ability to review and apply product standards such as IEC 60204-1, IEC 62619, ISO 12100 and ISO 13849, and provide guidance to engineers and other business functions.

  • Experience of developing technical reports that demonstrate product capability for use in compliance certifications and homologation.

  • Self-directed and capable of handling and prioritising multiple projects, with an ability to successfully lead parallel work streams to firm timing and quality targets.

  • Top candidates will also have experience in implementing Battery or Fuel Cell technologies.

Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Produces and interprets common risk assessment and management reports.

  • Identifies common technology risks relevant to own function or unit.

  • Implements or manages risk management for own area.

  • Documents the key steps of a unit-specific risk management process and associated procedures.

  • Evaluates risk assessment models and techniques relevant to a specific product line.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Evaluates and makes contributions to best practices.

  • Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy.

  • Productively balances speed and accuracy.

  • Implements a variety of cross-checking approaches and mechanisms.

  • Demonstrates expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards.

  • Employs techniques for motivating employees to meet or exceed accuracy goals.

Additional information:

There may be up to 20% travel requirement for internal meetings across the US and China.
