The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Level 6 Apprentice Mechanical/ Electrical Engineer to start in Summer/Autumn 2024 to join our team based in Reading.

Building Services Engineering and Consulting services include a wide range of development types across urban regeneration projects, commercial, leisure and education sectors throughout the UK, although predominantly within the southeast, with a heavy emphasis on their energy performance.

Stantec offers the opportunity to work and collaborate on jobs on a global scale whilst utilising the latest BIM technology to develop designs from an initial concept through to project completion.

Your day-to-day role includes various engineering and design activities by creating a comfortable environment through designing the mechanical components of necessities such as heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and domestic water services whilst retaining a focus on the sustainability and environmental impact of each design.

You will be exposed to various types of projects:

• Mechanical and public health service design
• Environmental modelling
• Building systems performance analysis
• Lighting and day-lighting design
• Environmental master planning

During your 5-year apprenticeship, you’ll have plenty of contact with highly-skilled experts to support you and ensure the right solution is being delivered as projects progress.

What will you gain?

You’ll be learning whilst you earn as you study for your degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering. Expanding your knowledge by weekly block release at Warwick University.

About you:

For our apprenticeships no previous experience is required, if you are self-motivated, an excellent communicator, and curious to learn more, this job could be for you.

What you’ll need:

• 3 A Levels at AAA, totalling 144 UCAS points, including Maths and a Physical Science

or

• BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering – DDD to including a pass in 2 maths units (144 UCAS points)

or

• BTEC Diploma grade D\D\, with an A grade A level Maths

LandAid

Stantec has partnered with property sector charity LandAid as one of its corporate partners to join its mission to end youth homelessness.

In 2019/20, an estimated 120,000 young people asked for help from their local council because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

It’s a problem that LandAid are here to help tackle.

As the Property Industry Charity, LandAid unite over 200 organisations from across the sector, working together to bring an end to youth homelessness.

As a Charitable trust, they distribute funding to frontline charities supporting the young and homeless – and primarily fund capital projects, such as renovating homes and building bedspaces.
