My client has a fantastic, very modern facility where they design and manufacture a range of electronic / electro-mechanical products.
They are looking for someone to join their electronics team which consists of 5 Electronic Design Engineers and a Manager. This is a crucial role for the team to fill.
You will have a broad role involving things like supporting the team in R&D setting up and analysing prototypes, problem-solving on R&D projects as well as working with the manufacturing teams on things like warranty issue investigation, creating specific harnesses and setups etc.
You must be able to read schematics and identify components like Micro’s, diodes etc, and understand things like currents and voltages. So, you need to have done more than just basic rework and repairs on electronic products/PCBs.
Responsibilities and Skills required for this Electronic Technician will include:
- Collaborate with the engineering team to assemble electronic prototypes, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Construct custom wiring harnesses and setups based on engineering schematics and requirements for R&D and production teams.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to the Surface Mount Technology assembly process, including soldering, component placement, and adherence to IPC standards. Identify and report defects or anomalies in the assembly process.
- Familiarity with IPC standards and soldering techniques is essential.
- Proficiency in using electronic assembly tools and equipment, interpreting circuit diagrams and PCB layouts, and utilising electronic equipment like oscilloscopes.
- Effective communication skills for reporting technical information, documenting assembly processes, and collaborating on warranty issue resolutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse electronic circuits and identify potential issues.
They are open to candidates who haven’t had R&D experience but are keen to get involved in R&D projects and feel they have the technical skills and ability to learn and develop.
