Our client specialises in the design, development and manufacture of handheld testing products and are looking to recruit an Electronics Technician to join their long-established family run business. They are looking for a technician with some hands on experience in the manufacture of electronic products to act as the link between R&D and workshop.
Duties
- Produce and test electronic parts and sub-assemblies including PCB Assembly requiring soldering and crimping to IPC standards
- Testing using electronic test equipment such as scopes and multi-meters
- Complete final assembly of systems
- Create new and update build instructions to latest specification
- Perform calibration, final test and documentation
- Repair of electronic systems to component level
- Work from drawings, schematics, electronic assembly equipment and verbal/written instructions to assemble, repair, modify, rework or re-assemble units.
- Provide technical support in house and to customers
Skills & Qualifications
- BTEC level qualification in Electronic Engineering or higher
- Some experience in Surface mount soldering with knowledge of analogue and digital circuits preferable
- Knowledge of PCB electronic component fault diagnosis techniques down to component level desirable
- Crimping, soldering and rework methods to IPC standards
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- A basic understanding of IT within the workplace including antivirus and firewall protection and an interest in developing these skills
- An understanding of LAN / WAN/WiFi/VoIP/VPN access network equipment technologies including Switches, Hubs, Print Servers, Modems, Routers, VPN technology would be a bonus
- A knowledge of Mailing systems and Office Automation applications would be beneficial along with troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a methodical way
Benefits
- 25,000 - 28,000 depending on experience
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday (flexible hours working between 8am and 6pm)
