About the Role

De Parys Group has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) / paramedic to join our practice. This role is offered on a full-time basis, for 37.5 hours per week.

The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients’ needs either in the practice or patient homes;
  • Support, and continue the development of, an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice;
  • Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in both emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history;
  • Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral;
  • Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes;
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary, healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another.

About the Candidate

If you are an experienced Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) / paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience:
  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care;
  • Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider;
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients;
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently;
  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines;
  • To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills;
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council;
  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working;
  • Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.

About Us

De Parys Group’s priority is to provide the highest standard of clinical care to the 38,000 patients registered with the practice. We aim to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers and support organisations, to enable more patients to be treated in a primary care setting, closer to home. We embrace a continuous improvement ethos and strive to ensure that we are available to patients when they need a consultation. We have a strong training ethos within the practice with a team of medical and non-medical educators as well as opportunities for non-clinical staff to develop and progress.
Our team is currently made up of approximately 160 members of staff and is continually growing, including; GP partners, salaried GPs, practice nurses, minor illness nurses, health care assistants, paramedics, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, admin teams (with managers and team leaders), patient support team (reception team), GP support team, medical secretaries, prescribing clerks, administrators and clinical coders, dispensary team, patient care coordinators and senior management team.
TDPG is fortunate to have its own dispensaries at our De Parys and Bromham sites. In addition to our routine GMS services, we offer a comprehensive range of services including minor surgery, LARC provision and anticoagulation clinics. We are developing under the National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) framework of 'Primary Care Home' and are actively working with the Mental Health Trust to integrate their services within the Practice. We also offer enhanced service provision for homeless patients. The Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) is a voluntary annual reward and incentive programme for all GP surgeries in England, detailing practice achievement results. We have high QOF achievement and excellent KPIs within the group.
