The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Employee Relations Advisor

Location: Peterborough (Hybrid working)

Are you a HR professional with experience of working employee relation cases within a Manufacturing, Haulage or Factory/Warehouse environment? Do you enjoy handling multiple case loads and supporting managers with ER matters? If so, we have a fantastic new opportunity waiting for you at AB Agri!

Working within a small team, this role is integral to the continued development of our People & Performance function at AB Agri, the Employee Relations Advisor will take responsibility for ER cases across AB Agri globally operating fair and consistent processes in line with AB Agri policies, taking into consideration the different cultures and nuances of the business units.

A second critical part of the role will centre around employee communications and knowledge, this will take the form of maintenance of policies as well as creating and maintaining content for the employee knowledge base supporting our global employees.

As well as managing cases you will also be involved with other ad hoc HR projects centred around employee wellbeing, clarity of AB Agri processes and policies.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide practical, expert first line support to Managers around Employee Relations matters.
  • Work end to end Employee Relations cases following legislation and policy including investigations, hearings, consultation, appeals and tribunals related to disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, restructures, settlements, absence management, TUPE transfers and flexible working as examples.
  • Support and coach line managers to support ER cases (in some business units including verbal warnings and counselling).
  • Advise and operate in Employee Relations across Europe with opportunity to expand to other countries globally.
  • Manage and develop policies and procedures in accordance with legislation across all locations.
  • Create and maintain content in the employee knowledge base for a global audience across different entities.
  • Work with feedback to encourage use of self-service knowledge articles and policies.
  • Understand and translate AB Agri policy for managers and employees.
  • Manage queries empathetically in a timely manner.
  • Use occupational health services, writing referrals and using outputs appropriately as part of ER work.
  • Use relevant HR systems to track case progress and monitor the case, as well as see pertinent employee details.
  • Manage ER and HR related projects.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience managing a varied ER caseload within a professional and manufacturing workforce.
  • Experience working in ER across Europe.
  • A solid understanding of GDPR and best practice.
  • Prior experience applying current Employee Relations legislation.
  • Comfortable and confident in writing and amending policy.
  • Confident in creating easily digestible and understandable knowledge base articles for varied audiences.
  • An ability to translate policy for managers and employees.
  • Ability to meet multiple competing priorities and ensure appropriate outcomes for all.
  • Change management processes.
  • Experience managing cases within disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, restructures, settlements, absence management, TUPE transfers and flexible working etc.
  • Experience using ServiceNow and SAP SuccessFactors, a beneficial not essential.
  • Ability to influence across levels of the organisation.
  • Positive stakeholder management will also be required.

A clear understanding of ER practice and legislation will be required as well as an ability to quickly build respect and trust with employees. Experience working in ER in manufacturing, haulage or factory environments is required.
