Employee Relations Advisor
Location Rubery, Birmingham (hybrid working 2 days from home)
Salary: £25-£29,000 + benefits + career opportunities
Our client is a global organisation and they have two great opportunities to join the HR Shared Service Centre. Working as part of a busy team, the Employee Relations Advisor will be providing professional front-line Employee Relations advice and support to Management Teams on all aspects of Employee Relations, colleague welfare, performance management, people policies, data protection and right-to-work legislation.
These are great roles for graduates with a years placement experience who have had exposure to managing ER caseloads end-to-end.
The role:
- End-to-end management of a large volume of ER cases (c.20-30) at different stages and of varying levels of complexity
- Receiving queries from managers across the national business via email, phone, and ticketing system
- Daily use of the internal case management system to log calls, case updates and running reports
- Providing professional, expert advice to line managers with queries relating to topics such as disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, appeals, whistleblowing, right-to-work checks, absence management, maternity, paternity and adoption matters, working time regulations, etc.
- Keeping up-to-date with policies and procedures, in line with company guidelines, industry standards and UK Employment Law regulations
- Providing coaching and upskilling to managers who are directly involved in the ER cases, highlighting and educating them on any related risk to business
- Liaising with, and escalating to, relevant stakeholders when required, highlighting risks and urgent actions to be taken
- Consulting with the internal legal team for advice
- Consulting with ACAS when required
- Attending meetings virtually and in person
- Writing and issuing letters around termination, occupational health referrals, welfare meetings, etc
The person:
- Happy to work fully on site for the first month fur onboarding and training purposes
- Degree educated with relevant placement experience as part of the degree
- CIPD or MSc HR part or fully qualified
- Experience in end-to-end management of Employee Relations cases
- Proven track record of advising on ER matters to a management community
- Keeps up-to-date with their knowledge of HR legislation and best practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build key working relationships and influence colleagues at all levels
- Eager to develop and progress
- Highly organised
- Great listener
- Good administrative and IT skills
- Experience in letter writing
- Strong team player
