The Opportunity
Energy Economics generates analysis and insight within EDF’s Net Zero Strategy & Policy division, a strategic function critical to developing and steering the business.

We are looking for a talented Analyst to join the team to provide strategic analysis and insight into a wide range of areas relevant to EDF’s activities and vision for our future market environment.

What you’ll be doing

As an Energy Economics Analyst, you will work closely with analysts across the EDF Group to ensure scenarios for the power markets are developed on sound and coherent quantitative foundations.

With a collaborative approach, you will work responsively to business needs, supporting projects of strategic importance and provide analysis to help shape the policy agenda.

In this role you will develop and maintain an excellent understanding of fundamental drivers of UK electricity and gas markets, how they may evolve with commercial, regulatory, political or technological change, the strategic implications of those changes and strategic risks and opportunities. You will design, implement and maintain appropriate analytical tools to support strategic analysis.

Who you are
We are looking for somebody with excellent analytical skills, experience in defining and solving complex problems, and some understanding of the UK energy industry. Experience with power market modelling or programming languages such as Python or VBA would be helpful.

You will be experienced in building and maintaining strong networks and stakeholder relationships, with skills to effectively communicate complex ideas to a range of stakeholders. You will demonstrate the ability to grasp and tackle new topics and take initiative to help shape an evolving scope of work
