NC Associates are working with a market leading manufacturing organisation based in Greater Manchester to help recruit an experience Engineering Manager on an interim basis for 9 months. As Engineering Manager you will lead the Engineering Team to successfully deliver all performance criteria in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People (SQCDP) in Engineering through the involvement and engagement of the Engineering Team in a 24/7 operation.
Deploying a culture of Lean / Continuous Improvement to support key stakeholders (eg – Manufacturing) to deliver incremental and sustained YoY performance improvements in key metrics such as OEE and CTP.
Co-ordinating the sites Capex Plan as Engineering Manager you will be a key member of the Site Senior Management Team
Duties
- Safety – effectively lead the Engineering Team to adopt a proactive approach to Safety to consistently deliver the Engineering Safety KPI’s in line with expectations. An Upper Tier COMAH Site there a rigorous audits for compliance in key safety criteria.
- Delivery – working with Manufacturing, support the delivery of CTP targets to underpin excellent Customer Service to customers whilst keeping stock levels as low as is practicable.
- People – using a coaching approach ensure that the Engineering Management Team deploy effective communication, appraisal, multiskilling, training, succession planning, absence management etc... processes in Engineering
- Cost – develop and deliver stretching budgets for Engineering. Ensuring the effective deployment of Continuous Improvement (eg – Lean Tools & Techniques) to drive YoY improvements in OEE. To identify effective capital expenditure opportunities with Manufacturing and to execute these on time and within budget.
- Quality – aspiring to have ‘Zero Loss’, engage with the Manufacturing Team’s to create a proactive approach to successfully deliver the Quality KPI’s.
Essential Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar FMCG production environment (preferably in a unionised and multi shift environment).
- Experience in developing departmental business plans/strategies.
- Proven record in consistently delivering committed budgets and improving YoY SQCDP results.
- Excellent understanding of Continuous Improvement/Lean – eg – Problem Solving, 5S, SMED, TPM etc…
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet short and long term deadlines.
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of SAP.
