Job Title: Estates Officer
Locations: Rugby, CV21
Pay Rate: £15.70 - £17.59 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: 12 weeks initially with potential of perm offer
Gi Group Recruitment are now seeking to appoint an Estates Officer to our Public Sector client based in Rugby. The Estates Officer will be responsible for the day to day administration of the estates portfolio in accordance with Management's Strategy and corporate priorities, values and aims under the direction of the Property Manager.
Duties of the Estates Officer
- To have a commercial approach to estates to achieve best value from the Council land holdings and property Assets.
- To be aware and up to date with estate management practice and apply these to the Council's portfolio.
- To assist to appoint and manage external valuer's and estates consultants for an efficient estates service delivery.
- To assist in designing and implementing estate policies and procedures to suit Council objectives.
- To write and prepare council and estates reports.
- To co-ordinate internal and external stakeholders to deliver estates work to the council's requirements.
- To work with legal services in the preparation of legal documentation, ie terms of leases, licences, easements etc.
- To assist to manage estates risks and set up estates records.
- Answer day to day estates queries from members of the public and external customers and manage a register of these queries.
- Draft record and help prepare and present data, in various formats, to key stakeholders, including Senior Officers, Elected Members, consultants and contractors.
- Support the project managers on all estates related matters and report to project boards as necessary.
- Attend and contribute to major development project groups and project manage specialist land and property projects as assigned.
Experience Required
- Working toward an appropriate professional or technical estates qualification.
- GCSE grade C or above in English language or equivalent standard.
- A minimum of five years' experience of managing estates matters in a corporate or similar organisation in both housing and commercial/public buildings.
- Experience of administration and record keeping with an asset management system.
- A working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relating Property.
- Experience of specifying and commissioning professional services and estates work.
- Experience of setting managing and monitoring estates work and KPI's.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to use these skills at all levels.
- Computer skills and in particular, the ability to use Microsoft Office software ie. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, GIS.
- Ability to identify and deliver commercial opportunities in an estates environment.
- Full UK driving Licence and access to own transport for business use.
