Vacancy Information
This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
Working within Estates & Facilities, we have an exciting opportunity to join the Surrey Police and Sussex Police Estates team in delivering property portfolio projects, as a Estates Project Officer.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing estate capital and revenue projects specifically allocated to them. You would ensure projects are developed and delivered on time and to the design specification, by working with internal stakeholders, external consultants and contractors, reviewing throughout the life-cycle of a project and reporting back to Estates Management at key stages.
Utilising good people skills, electronic record management capability and time management, you would be working on a diverse range of project works across Surrey and Sussex, and alongside a variety of stakeholders associated with the building profession.
This role will require you to travel across both Surrey Police & Sussex Police sites, therefore a driving licence is essential as well as having the means to travel. Or willing to undergo our driving assessment to be able to use our pool cars.
Skills & Experience
Essential Qualifications:
Educated to A level or equivalent standard.
A Building or Property related qualification e.g. HND Level 5 Building Studies, Surveying or Engineering diploma.
Good understanding of Health and Safety in relation to construction and property management - CDM Regs
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 3 years experience delivering projects in the built environment.
Experience of running building related projects from inception through to completion - RIBA 0 - 7
Experience of using Project Management frameworks and documentation.
Experience of monitoring and reporting against project budgets
Fully IT literate with good level of competency with Microsoft suite - Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook,
Project Experience of managing external consultants, design teams, contractors, internal and external stakeholders.
Good interpersonal skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Good organisational skills
Ability to find solutions to problems
Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and end users.
Additional Requirements:
Whilst not essential, it would be beneficial if the job holder held the following: Member of, or working towards, a professional qualification - RICS, CIOB or CIBSE. Hold or working towards a Project Management qualification or membership - MAPM, Prince 2, RICS Experience of operational Policing or working in the blue light sector IOSH Qualification CAD skills
