Events Manager
Fixed Term contract (3-5 months)
Location: Central London, with opportunity for hybrid working
Salary: Starting salary of £24,779 per annum (equivalent to £158.8 daily rate, £41,298 FTE) plus competitive benefits
Working hours: Part Time 21 hours over 3 days a week
Charity People are working with a professional body for optometry. We are looking for an Events Manager who will join an established and busy Events team. This role will manage key areas of the flagship conference from February to May 2024. This role is predominantly remote, however attendance at events are required, specifically between 27-29 April in Telford. Travel expenses and accommodation costs will be covered.
Reporting to the Head of Events, the role holder will be responsible for
* Managing the lead up and onsite delivery of the exhibition (11 free build stand, 20 table tops)
* Account managing the exhibitor and sponsors until event completion
* Drafting the exhibition & sponsorship Technical Manual
* Organising industry evaluations and post-event feedback
* Managing workshop drugs from start to finish
* Managing AV requests and set ups in each of the rooms
* Planning stage management
* Creating and managing staff schedule
* Working with the Head of Events to detail support staffing
* Reviewing the finances and creating a process to have student volunteers
Experience and skills
You will have significant experience in events management, encompassing both physical and digital events, along with a track record of successfully managing exhibitions and budgets. Demonstrated proficiency in project management and a history of collaborating closely with volunteers, speakers, and subject matter experts to execute programs effectively are essential.
You will have excellent organisational abilities, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills to produce accurate materials and provide clear explanations, are paramount. Additionally, you will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive working relationships internally and externally, while also showing resilience and the ability to work autonomously under pressure, seeking assistance when necessary.
