We’re bringing blossom to Balsall Heath, and we need your help. In April we’re opening our ‘Blossom Branch’ on Ladypool Road, a space designed for locals to learn about our project, participate in nature themed activities and help shape the project’s tree planting ambitions.
We’re looking for someone to help run this space on a day-to-day basis, making it a welcoming and fun place which puts community at the heart of everything it does.
This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the year. You'll work 800 hours over the duration of the contract.
This is our anticipated salary from 1st April but is subject to final confirmation following the Trust’s annual pay review process.
This project is a new venture as we trial different ways of working with communities in large cities. You'll be based at the Blossom Branch and will follow a working pattern which reflects the lifestyle of surrounding communities, for which availability to work weekends and one evening a week is required. You'll work alongside the Community Activity Manager, but will report to the Project Manager and wider Blossom team, with opportunities to shadow and meet colleagues at other National Trust places and projects.
You'll provide a warm welcome and make visitors feel respected and seen, sharing your knowledge about the project with them and taking the time to get to know them and their interests. You'll help coordinate the daily activities and events programme– often in collaboration with other organisations – providing feedback so we can continue to improve what we do.
You'll use your skills, knowledge and networks to help promote the branch to local community groups and stakeholders, encouraging them to visit whilst recording any suggestions they may have about activities or collaboration opportunities. Wherever possible, we’d like you to use your initiative to develop and broker new relationships within the area.
Finally, you'll help look after and care for the space and people who use the Blossom Branch, ensuring all health and safety protocols are met and which will include occasional Duty Management responsibilities. As Duty Manager, you'll ensure that the Branch is able to open safely to visitors, addressing any health and safety issues during operation, and undertaking emergency protocols if required. You'll take responsibility for and resolve issues which may affect staff, volunteers or visitors during opening hours.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- experience in visitor operations and/or customer service delivery
- knowledge on what makes a good visitor experience and how to make people feel welcome and cared for
- a flexible customer focused approach with experience in delivering high standards of customer service
- experience of following complaint handling procedures
- knowledge of/willingness to learn about relevant Health and Safety and safeguarding procedures
- knowledge of different access requirements and how to assist visitors
- strong written and verbal communication skills
